Anna von Schenck and Alfred R. Ritz came to Texas from
Aachen, Germany to join her sister, Natalie Theodora von Schenck,
at the school as music teachers. Their family lived in this house for
a hundred years and raised a couple of generations of children.
There was always lots of music.
During the time the Ritz family lived here, a view out of the second-floor, western windows would have provided a view of the Texas State Capitol being constructed and completed in 1888.
